The Hideout is located on the outskirts of Allerston village along the A170, 5 miles from the market town of Pickering & easily reached from the A1 or A64 from York or Scarborough.

By Train: The nearest train station is Malton (11 Miles), with regular 23mins journeys to York grand central station.

By Bus: The nearest bus stop is approx. 25meters from the entrance. With regular routes to Scarborough, Malton & Helmsley. The East Yorkshire 128/ X28 service runs between Scarborough- Helmsley via Pickering. Click here for timetable.

Walking Distance...

From The Hideout, by foot you have access to plenty of walking/ cycle trails, either within the village itself or north of the village into the forestry tracks. Our local village pub, The Cayley Arms Inn is conveniently situated next door, think homecooked food, roaring fires & chesterfield armchairs. Wilton, the next village along hosts ‘The Horny Cow’ butchery & farm shop, offering rare & native meats, alongside local groceries.

Dalby Forest- Walking Distance into the forestry tracks from your lodge. Located on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park, its perfect for exploring woodlands either by foot or bike. The reception hub is located 6 miles from The Hideout, where you can find cycle hire, café, Dalby activity center, large outdoor children play park & Go Ape/ tree top junior.

Thornton Le Dale- 3 Miles. Regarded as one of the prettiest villages in Yorkshire, its a ‘must do’ place to visit whilst your here. A woodland path runs from the car park into the village, the local independent cafes, bakery’s & shops are perfect for a wander.

Pickering Market Town- 5 Miles. Steeped in history, independent shops & eateries, with access to larger supermarkets. Famous for its ever popular wartime weekend. Market days are held every Monday, popular with both locals & tourists. The North York Moors heritage railway also runs from here, the ultimate family day out.

Malton market town - 11 Miles. Known as Yorkshire’s food capital, its a town of markets & makers. Boasting independent shops, food markets, bars & cafes to keep you occupied for days. Malton hosts a monthly food market specialising in street food, live music & local produce.

Scarborough costal town- 12 Miles. A coastal seaside town, 2 sandy bay beaches spilt by a 12th century Castle. Plenty of family attractions to see & do, The Sea Life Sanctuary and Peasholm park Japanese gardens are a firm favourite. Scarborough boasts a mix of larger high street shops, independent boutiques, supermarkets and eateries. The Brunswick shopping center is home to over 30 shops & cafes, if you fancy something handmade & crafty, the historic indoor market hall is worth a visit. Alpamare is great for waterpark fun & Scarborough harbour is filled with fish & chips, arcade amusements & Harbour Bar ice-cream.

Helmsley- 18 miles. The only market town within the North York Moors National Park itself. Award winning eateries, its own brewery, walled gardens, national Centre for birds of prey, galleries and even its own castle. Weather your walking, riding, shopping or cycling. This beautiful town is not to be missed. Weekly market day is usually held on a Friday.

Whitby coastal town- 23 Miles. A seaside town to the North, nestled on the edge of the North York Moors. Its steeped in history, culture and myth, found famous for its connections to Captain Cook & Dracula. With its quirky narrow streets & bustling harbour, we highly recommend a visit.
